President George W. Bush's Letter... October 29, 2010

Today October 29, 2010, upon reviewing my mail  (U.S. Postal) I received a letter packet from former President George W. Bush, and Ambassador Mark Langdale, requesting that i accept early membership into the George W. Bush Presidential Center, needless to say, "i accepted" as i have always been a supporter of President Bush...

The President's letter to me...

                                             George W. Bush

Dear Mr. Temme,

Throughout our time in the White House, Laura and I were sustained by support from friends like you. With your help, we advanced hopeful and effective policies rooted in the ideas of freedom, opportunity, responsibility, and compassion.

Since returning home to Texas, Laura and I have been hard at work developing the George W. Bush Presidential Center. In addition to housing my Presidential Library and Museum, the Bush Center will include a policy research institute-a first for a presidential library. The Bush Institute will be home to scholars and policy experts who will work with Laura and me to advance powerful ideas and sound principles through research, scholarship, and results-oriented programs.

When President Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicated the first presidential library, he said it would be grounded in the capacity of the American people "to learn from the past, that they can gain in judgement in creating their own future." I have the same goal for our new Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas.

Laura and I appreciate your friendship, encouragement, and prayers over the years, and we are honored to invite you to join us as a Charter Member of the Bush Center. We look forward to working with you as we dedicate this new chapter in our lives to advancing the noble ideas we share.

                                                                          Sincerely,
                                                                       --------------
                                                                         George W. Bush

Reverend Edward Dumke's Letter: November 1978/Concerning Patricia Hearst

                                                                                     Thanksgiving Day, 1978

Dear Mr. Temme:

Earlier today I visited Patricia. I felt she might be depressed having to
spend this important holiday apart from her family and loved ones.

However, contrary to my expectations, I found her in good spirits. And YOU are responsible- you and others across this country who have spoken out in her behalf. Patricia said it in these few words: " I have much to be thankful for. We always expect our family and friends to provide love and support. But when it pours in from strangers in every walk of life, it gives strength to my faith-in myself and the future."

I knew Patricia long before her kidnapping. I knew her as a bright, witty, gentle, compassionate young lady. She looked forward to a life filled with promise of a home of her own, a family and friends. That hope exploded in terror on the night of February 4, 1974. Torn from her apartment by a gang of fanatic revolutionaries, (SLA) Patricia was subjected to the most extreme forms of physical torture and psychological manipulation. She was, in the words of her captors, "a prisoner of war." She finally broke.

Shortly after Patricia was found, I saw her in the San Mateo County Jail. The cruel consequences of her months of imprisonment by the S.L.A. clouded her face and eyes. She was emanciated, afraid and disorientated.

Over the months, I saw Patricia begin to pull out of the black depths of her prolonged nightmare. I saw a tiny spark of the warm spirit that characterized her life before her brutal abduction. I am convinced that her recovery is a direct reflection of the faith and support you and others have given this fragile yet remarkably strong victim of political terror.

Patricia believes, as I do, that your support will prevail in the court of public opinion. Because of this conviction, I once more solicit your help.

Please write yet another brief letter to President Carter asking him, in this Holy Season, to help correct the evil injustice that caused Patricia and her family to suffer so much for so long. Every letter counts. So please write again and, by your personal plea, help bring Patricia home to her family and friends.

                                                                                            Sincerely,

                                                                     (Signed):          Father Ted Dumke

William A. Steiger Letter July 16, 1977/Member of Congress

July 16, 1977

Dear Mr. Temme:

It was exceedingly thoughtful of you to write me that note of encouragement.
I do firmly believe that I have a constitutional duty to protect the First Amendment rights of the people who communicate with me in my capacity as a legislature.
While my conviction is firm, I find that this position may be leading me into a lonely battle, and I assure you that it is very heartening to know there are apt to be some who appreciate the principle that is at stake. Thanks so much for your uplifting support.

Sincerely yours,
William A. Steiger
Member of Congress

                                       President of the United States

Mr. Temme's comment: "Upon receiving the White House Certificate in my mail box, written on fine White House stationary, i was 'humbled' that President Reagan took the time to honor me, signing the 'certificate' by his own hand and pen"...

Additional Reagan "Memoirs" by Mr. Temme...

As early as 1981, i being a trusted member of the Republican party, and on the American Security Council Advisory Board played a role in President Reagan's decision to fund the 'contras' in Nicaragua to overthrow the Marxist 'Sandinistas'. President Reagan was worried that the 'Sandinistas' would export their political revolution to the Americas in time like the Soviets and communism, as a ASC member i "on occasion" advised the President in letters via some contact Senators in Washington.
Unfortunately over time the 'Iran-contra' arms deals went bad, and the 'Enterprise' soured, my advise to President Reagan during his presidency was greatly appreciated by him, as we both were mid-west small town boys in our early years, now both relocated in California. The president was very keen on his 'Presidential Task Force' campaigns, i often received his 'Task Force' letters...

President Jimmy Carter's Post Cards May/August 2010

Today upon reviewing my mail, i had received a post card from our former President Jimmy Carter, in his own hand writing, he thanked me for my support with the Carter Center... The President's remarks herewith are stated word for word:
"The Carter Center's efforts are showing how gains in peace, health, and human rights all work together (underlined) to improve lives. Thank you for your support"- signed,
 Jimmy Carter...
Authors note: The former President has a way of keeping me "connected " with humanity, as i often wonder if humanity and its suffering and  God, are one and the same.  I appreciated his remarks and post card, as the President is a "true" friend...

Hon. The Baroness Thatcher, Former P.M. L.G., O.M.,F.R.S. Letter (2008)

Letter 2008, From former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher

"Dear Mr. Temme,

It was with great honor to be invited to become patron of the Heritage Foundation in 2006. Heritage's president Ed Feulner and I first met during the Reagan years and found, almost immediately, that we shared the same goals of defending and extending freedom. Since then I have greatly admired all the work which Heritage has done and was delighted to become an official part of the organization. The world owes an enormous debt to Ronald Reagan. For his determination to rebuild America's defences; for his insistence that communism should  not simply be resisted, but rolled back; for his belief that the free world must respond swiftly and strongly to rogue threats; and for his staunch championing of individual freedom, both at home and abroad: for all these we, and future generations, can be grateful..."

( letter continues but deleted)...

                                                                                           Yours Sincerely,
                                                                                               Signed
                                                                                           Margaret Thatcher

Mr. Temme comment's on Margaret Thatchers' letter to him those years ago:
"The letter only 'confirmed' my belief that President Reagan ranks with Presidents Washington, Lincoln and Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Russia's Vlad Putin"...
