"As a active ASC Member in the 1970's and 1980's I admit that on 'occasion' i did 'advise' Presidents Ford/ Reagan through my correspondence and occasional telephone calls, advise the Presidents concerning their economic and military projections... I only regret i failed to save copies of our correspondence, as at the time for me it was like 'natural' not a big deal, now years later i regret my negligence"...

"Letter to Dmitri Ustinov, Defense Minister"
Moscow, U.S.S.R. (May 24, 1976)
Dear Honorable Ustinov:
As you know, i as a member of the National Advisory Board on the American Security Council, i have taken the responsibility without the knowledge or approval of the American Security Council to write this letter. We are currently conducting a National Security Issues Poll among our American citizens on our military strength and if whether we should increase it to match your countries military strength. The poll which we are conducting is about whether your government has too much military strength which your government might eventually try to use against us.
When the American Security Council finishes this survey among our citizens, the results will be forwarded to our congressional leaders and reprsentatives in Washington.
The question i want to "confidentially" ask you Mr. Ustinov is: Does the Soviet Union intend to eventually youse "military strength" to take over Western Europe ?
( further part of letter omitted)
Respectively,
Mark E. Temme
Advisory Board Member
American Security Council
Note: Mr. Temme received in a later following letter, forwarded by President Ford via Senator Proxmire, instructions from Mr. Ustinov's office to contact Frau Wolf in Mutters/Austria in early spring 1977...
